CALL TO ACTION #11: OWN YOUR NEXT LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITY

220 ACTION

Write these answers down on a piece of paper, your computer, or on your phone.

  1. Identify the next time you will be working in a group or team. This could be a school project, performing arts, sports, an extracurricular activity or a family activity.
  2. Think back and analyze what role you have taken in the past within that group. Were you the leader? What strengths did you contribute to the group/team? How could you improve? If this will be the first time you work with this group or team, think about this in terms of the type of role you want to take on, the strengths you can contribute, and the things you can improve from previous group experiences.
  3. If you have historically been a leader in this group, think about leadership qualities you displayed. What did you do really well? What could you improve on? Think about the ideal leader you would like to follow in that activity. How close have you been to mirroring that leader? What do you need to do to put yourself on that level?
  4. If you have not historically been a leader in this group, or this will be your first time with this group, think about the leadership qualities you can & should practice? Think about the ideal leader you would like to follow in that activity. What do you need to do to mirror that ideal leader?

This will take some self-awareness and stepping out of your comfort zone. So you know it's a worthwhile activity.
